Technology in the School
We have a state-of-the-art Computer Laboratory complete with 30 IBM computers, scanner and a networked colour laser printer. All classrooms have between them two to three fully networked computers, interactive whiteboards and shared laser printers.
Our school has a managed network with full internet access that is filtered for safety by the Department of Education.
Role of Computer Consultant
The school employs a specialist teacher for Computers to conduct lessons and assist in staff development covered by a levy.
Teaching/Learning Student Outcomes
We believe computers are a natural tool for learning therefore technology is integrated throughout all subject areas. Specific computer skills are also taught by all teaching staff and are documented in the School’s ‘Scope and Sequence of Computer-Based Skills’. These skills are grouped under the following headings: basic computer skills, word processing skills, database and spreadsheet skills, internet, intranet and e-mail skills and multimedia skills.
